In French, certain verbs require an infinitive complement. This quick reference index aims to provide an at-a-glance guide to verbs that commonly take infinitive complements.
Verbs without a Preposition[edit | edit source]
These verbs are followed directly by an infinitive, with no preposition in between.
vouloir, devoir, pouvoir, savoir, préférer, aller
Verbs Preceded by "à"[edit | edit source]
These verbs are followed by the preposition "à" and then the infinitive.
aider à, apprendre à, continuer à, hésiter à
Verbs Preceded by "de"[edit | edit source]
These verbs require the preposition "de" before the infinitive.
